How to read an analytical record.
A record is a snapshot of one lot at one point in time — not a claim about every lot a supplier has produced.

Identity
Confirms which compound, format, and lot the record describes. If the lot reference does not match the vial label, stop and ask before use.

Method
States the analytical technique used. The method determines what the result can support — a figure without a method is a number without a context.

Result
Reports the measured value, ideally against the specification the laboratory was asked to test against. Where no specification is listed, read the value as an observation.

Date
Documentation ages alongside the material it describes. Storage between testing and receipt matters as much as the original result.

Sign-off
Records who reviewed the data. It is the section most often skipped and the one that makes a record auditable.
