Reading a lot number

How lot references connect a physical vial to the paperwork that describes it.

5 min read

A lot reference is the primary key between a physical vial and its documentation. Without it, a record describes an abstraction.

Keep the lot reference with the material through decanting, aliquoting, and disposal.

When a record and a label disagree, stop and ask before use. It is almost always a labelling issue and it is always worth confirming.
